Outgoing Chiquita CEO will receive $4.7M

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 has obtained new details about the severance package given to outgoing Chiquita CEO Fernando Aguirre.

Friday is his last business day on the job.

According to paperwork Chiquita just filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Aguirre will get $4.7 million.

He will also stay on at the Charlotte headquarters for a year in a consultant role.

For that, he will be paid $40,000 a month and he can continue to vest in stock options.

Aguirre's replacement, Edward Lonergan, starts on Monday.
