Sneak peek inside Premium Outlets ahead of grand opening

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 reporter Greg Suskin got an exclusive look Thursday inside the Charlotte Premium Outlets one week before the grand opening.

Suskin talked to a local landscaper who said this is the biggest project she has ever worked on.

Cathy Harvey said she is racing to get the job done before next Thursday's opening.

Three more stores were announced on Thursday: Clarks Bostonian, Travelpro and Maurices.

It may be like Black Friday in July next week for opening weekend.

Tanger and Simon companies worked together to bring in household names in clothing, shoes and more to make the mall with what they hope is a wide appeal.

It includes a covered centered hallway that will keep shoppers out of the weather on rainy days and provide some shade on hot days.

The grand opening event is next Thursday. It will open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

There will be music, giveaways and special discounts.

Mall officials have a special gift for shoppers when it comes to parking.

"We are going to have three different other parking lots off property that we are going to be shuttling people to and from.  So we are going to ask all employees and staff to park in the out parcel lots and be shuttled in," said marketing manager Holly Roberson.

That means shopper will get the best spaces. That's just for opening weekend.

Mall officials told Channel 9 that every shopper will meet a greeter with brochures listing all the sales for opening weekend.
