Panthers win streak boosts local business

Panthers win streak boosts local business.

Local businesses are hoping to cash in on tourists and football fans when the Carolina Panthers take on the New England Patriots Monday night.

Bryan Meredith, owner of Queen City Q on Sixth Street, said the team's recent success has been lucrative for his restaurant.

"As they continue to win, there will be more people that will leave their house and want to watch the game out in public, which is a good thing," Meredith said.

Business has been growing so rapidly, Queen City Q now runs a shuttle bus for fans to the stadium.

Meredith said tables are already reserved for Monday night, and he expects to do at least 25 percent more business than a typical Monday.

"Uptown is going to be extremely busy," he said.

Chamber of Commerce officials said hotels are booked for the game, and they are banking on plenty of free advertising, as well.
