Troopers: 1 dead in Catawba Co. crash

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — One person has died after a head-on two-car crash in Catawba County Monday afternoon.

North Carolina High Patrol officials said Latrish Monique Kennedy died in the accident on Long Island Road.

Officials said the other person in the crash, Bobbie Mullins Beard, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center.

Troopers said Kennedy's vehicle ran through a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into Beard's vehicle.

A witness on the scene told troopers that Kennedy's vehicle started to make a left turn, but they didn't see any brake lights.

Chopper 9 flew over the scene Friday afternoon.

WSOC
