People shop groceries, supplies ahead of snowstorm

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It seemed after work Monday night, people flocked to grocery stores to stock up ahead of the snow.

Compare Foods on North Tryon had empty shelves and bottled water seemed to be a popular item.

It's important to remember that unlike the last snow in January, this snow is expected to last for a few days, so people want to be ready.

Blackhawk Hardware on Park Road sold out of ice melt 30 minutes after opening its doors Monday.

However, the store was able to get another shipment in Monday afternoon.

People told Channel 9 getting ice melt is just part of getting prepared.

"I thought I better make sure I can get out of my driveway, so I'm out here getting ice melt," one customer said.
