$1,500 reward offered in hit-and-run investigation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A $1,500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run.

Corey Brown, 25 was killed when he was struck by a car on Jan. 15 at the intersection of Lawyers Road and Donnefield Drive.

"I can't even put it in my mind the shock really, still (isn’t) even really set in yet," his father, Larry Brown, said.

Brown told Channel 9 as he processes his son's death he's also trying to grapple with how a driver could hit someone walking along the road and keep going.

"I can't imagine anybody walking around with that on their head,” Brown said.

Brown, who lives in Massachusetts, said he had been looking forward to seeing his son in the next few months.

Corey had been living with his mother in Charlotte, but planned to move up north shortly. "Corey was loving. He was kind and caring," Brown said.

He told Channel 9 his son had struggled with schizophrenia, but wasn't letting that get in the way of his dreams.

"He always had that ambition to go back to school,” Brown said. “He loves to draw. He likes to take pictures. He wants to be, he wanted to be, as creative as he could. He was a great kid. I just want some form of justice for Corey. I really wish, and I'm pleading, for the person who did this to please come forward."
