CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Matt Finein, 25, is currently confined to a recliner or bed, and needs a walker to move around after a driver hit him on his bicycle on Aug. 13 at the intersection of Central Avenue and Morningside Drive in Plaza Midwood.
Finein was performing at an improve club and was on his way home when the vehicle struck him, shattering his lower left leg.
"It's still devastating,” his father, Read Finein, said. “Every time I think about it, it's just like, if only there was some way I could stop and take the pain away."
The Fineins said Charlotte-Mecklenburg police checked traffic cameras, but an arrest was unlikely.
His family wants the person responsible to confess.
Earlier in August, Channel 9 reported that 13 pedestrians have been killed so far this year, which is four times as many at the same time last year.
Finein should be able to start walking without assistance in about a month.
