Police: 22 alleged drug dealers and traffickers arrested

KANNAPOLIS — Kannapolis police spent the day rounding up alleged drug dealers and traffickers. In all officers arrested 22 people.  Eyewitness News was there as they were taken into jail to be processed.

Officers traveled as far away as China Grove, Mooresville, and Concord searching for the suspects who are accused of selling dangerous prescription drugs in Kannapolis. Officers said some of the suspects have prescription drug plans and buy the drugs cheap then sell them.  Officers said at times the dealers make a 12,000 percent profit.

"It's awful, it's awful with all the kids around here," said Amber Jones.  She lives next door to one of the suspects.

Police said they've worked nearly 150 prescription drug cases this year.  That's about 10 more than the year before. Officers were still searching for three more suspects Saturday afternoon.
