UNION COUNTY, N.C. - A Union County senior citizen is facing criminal charges on allegations she was peddling pills from her Indian Trail home.

Deputies arrested 65-year-old Lois Cummisky Thursday after an undercover operation.

Investigators said Cummisky had been selling prescription hydrocodone pills out of her home on Third Avenue to undercover agents, activities that may have been facilitated by her age.

"The access to these pharmaceuticals may be easier for her age and gender," said Sgt. Kevin James.

Thursday was the second time Cummisky had been arrested. Authorities first handcuffed her in May when they said she conspired to sell drugs with her 34-year-old son, Anthony Jacobs.

Jacobs was arrested for drug trafficking, and since then authorities said Cummisky had taken over the business by herself.

Neighbors were shocked by news of her arrest.

"It's just not exactly what you would expect. I'm kind of surprised to hear about all that activity going on around here," said neighbor Greg Legault.

Cummisky is out of jail on bond.
