Police arrest teen who they say robbed a mother with child at ATM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said the gunman who terrorized a young mother and her child at a Charlotte ATM is only 15 years old.

A woman visiting a local bank recognized the suspect today and immediately called police.

She said she was on alert after watching Channel 9's report last week.

She came to the same ATM this morning when she noticed someone in the bushes. She called police and they arrested the suspect.

The mother robbed last week said she barely slept since the attack.

Now, she said she feels safer and hopes she can sleep at night.

She said the incident changed her and now she is nervous all the time and not comfortable outside her home.

Police are not releasing the suspect's name because he is a minor and have not said if he will be charged as an adult.
