Police chase suspect across south Charlotte after attempted break-in

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police made an arrest following a pursuit Monday evening across south Charlotte.

Officers said three patrol cars were following a vehicle on Independence Boulevard when, just before 10:30 p.m., the driver refused to pull over and a pursuit began.

The chase continued onto Interstate 277 to Interstate 77 southbound and the cars exited at Nations Ford Road.

Officers arrested the driver at the Regent Park Lane Apartment Complex on Sharon Road West around 10:35 p.m. Authorities said that he crashed the vehicle and tried to run.

Police have not released the suspect's name.

According to police, the vehicle did not belong to the suspect and officers said it appeared that the suspect was involved in a domestic-related breaking and entering incident in the Hickory Grove Division.

Channel 9 anchor Liz Foster was told by officers that the suspect was kicking windows and screaming in the police car.

No officers were injured. Police are still investigating.
