Police conduct death investigation on North Tryon St.

CHARLOTTE — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are conducting a death investigation in the 1300 block of North Tryon Street.

According to a release from CMPD, the call for service came in around 9:47 a.m. Sunday.

Officers responded to a person down call for service. The 911 caller stated they found a man lying in a drainage area near a path that is used by the transient population. Medic responded to the scene and pronounced him dead, police said.

The victim's identity will be released pending family notification.

Detectives are searching the area to determine if there are witnesses to the incident. Police said the investigation is in its early stages.
