Police find child pornography at home across from school

ALEXANDER COUNTY — Police said they found child pornography at an Alexander County home that is across the street from a middle school.

Channel 9 was there as the FBI and sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant at the home.

The magistrate issued seven different warrants for third degree sexual exploration of a minor against Joshua Cook, 30, who lives across the street from East Alexander Middle School.

Neighbors said the FBI and deputies were there for nearly two hours removing items from the home. Deputies said these items are part of a child pornography investigation.

"It worries me, and I hope it is not really going on. I hope that it is not what they think it is," said neighbor Chasity Collins.

When Channel 9 went to the home today, those inside said they did not want to talk.

Parents who picked up children form East Alexander Middle School on Wednesday afternoon are in disbelief that the home is so close to the school.

"I'm just shocked that it happened this close because you've got the teenage girls and boys here.  With it being just down the road, I'm at a loss for words," said parent Paula Milam.

Deputies said there is no evidence now that any of the children at the school were photographed, but their investigation is ongoing.

Cook saw a magistrate Wednesday afternoon. His bond was set at $100,000.
