Police say multiple shooters fired rounds at Gastonia nightclub, McDonald's

GASTONIA, N.C. — Police are investigating two connected shootings that occurred overnight.

Investigators believe there were multiple shooters, possibly shooting at each other. They found several shell casings more than 12 hours later.

The shooting unfolded in the Broncos parking lot on West Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia, and then the gunshots continued at a McDonald’s parking lot near the intersection of Hudson Boulevard and Union Road about 10 miles away.

“Oh, I was scared to death,” said a witness who didn’t want to be identified. “It was everywhere, and I knew then it was 50-plus shots.”

Katie Britton said she went to the bar for karaoke night, but had no idea there were also teens inside.

She said she hid in a bathroom stall with three other people.

“When you're mixing adults, if there were 13-year-olds, that's children," Britton said.

Witnesses said people were running around and hiding behind cars to dodge the bullets.

Police said a person drove himself to the hospital with minor injuries.

“I was down and he raised up, and the bullets hit him instead of me,” Renee McCoy said.

Police confirmed Broncos hosted a teen party Saturday night.

Witnesses said that in a separate room they also hosted their usual 21-and-older crowd.

“I didn't know which direction to go because they were coming from all directions,” a woman said.

Alcohol Enforcement officials are investigating the bar while police are searching for multiple shooters.
