Woman charged in Salisbury crash that killed 1, hurt 6

SALISBURY, N.C. — Police have arrested a woman after a crash left one person dead and half a dozen more injured Sunday night in Salisbury.

Police said the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Woodleaf Road and Highway 601, near Highway 70.

North Carolina State Troopers said one person died and six others were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

They said two vehicles were heading in the opposite direction on Woodleaf Road when an SUV T-boned a car.

The car had five people inside while the SUV had two.

Salisbury police have charged 22-year-old Amber Pruitt with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Troopers said they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident, but that speed was a factor.
