3 charged, 1 at large after shooting leaves man in coma

RANLO, N.C. — Three people are facing charges in a shooting that seriously injured a man in Ranlo Saturday.

The call came in as civil disturbance just after 4 p.m. Brandon Grier was shot in the stomach with a shotgun and is in critical condition at Gaston Memorial Hospital, police said.

Police said he was born in 1986, and is in a medically-induced coma.

Police charged Lorenzo Gray, Rhonda Waldroup and Jordan Smith with accessory to attempted murder.

Three vehicles were involved in the shooting on Saturday afternoon. Police said eight to 10 suspects confronted the victim, who is familiar with the shooter.

Police said the shooter was Timothy Rayvon Woods, 21, of Charlotte. They are still searching for him and said he drives a gray mid '90's-model Pontiac Sunbird or Sunfire.
