Police: Man accused of assaulting estranged wife's unborn baby

CONCORD, N.C. — A Concord man is in jail, charged with assaulting his estranged wife's unborn baby.

Police said Mario Garay hit the pregnant woman in the stomach and tried to cut her with a knife.

The woman was taken to the hospital to be checked.

She has been released.
