STATESVILLE, N.C. - Police recently caught one of three men accused of attacking and dragging a woman into the woods to rape her.
The victim was walking back to her home in Statesville in January 2013 when she was grabbed on Signal Hill Drive.
Police filed first-degree rape charges against 25-year-old James Smyre Jr.
He was taken into custody today at a home on North Patterson Street, just 3 miles from the crime scene.
Police still haven't identified the other two men.
