UNION COUNTY, N.C. - A Union County man has been charged after police said he hit another man over the head with a liquor bottle, killing him.
Investigators said Dennis Tadlock got into an argument with Ronald Mullis while the two were drinking inside Mullis’ home on Benton Street on Feb. 10.
Police said Tadlock fled the scene after the attack.
Officials said Mullis’ sister found him unconscious the next morning inside the home.
Mullis was taken to Carolinas Medical Center Union.
Tadlock was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on Feb. 11.
Mullis was in the intensive care unit and died on Tuesday.
The charges against Tadlock were upgraded to first-degree murder, police said.
He is currently in the Union County jail.
