MONROE, N.C. — Police are still looking for the gunamn who shot and killed a father around 1 a.m. Saturday morning in Mornoe.
The deadly shooting happened in the 500 block of East Hudson Street. Carrol Willis Griffin was found dead near a vehicle in a parking area, police said.

No arrests have been made and police said they have no suspects.
A vigil was held for Griffin Saturday night.
Family and friends said Griffin, 30, had nine children and was very active in their lives.
No further details on the investigation have been released.
This is the city’s second homicide this year. In May, Steven Smith, 28, was shot to death on Green Street -- one street away from where Griffin died.
Smith was shot seven times and there have been no arrests in that case.
