Police: Masked man hides in back seat, robs 2 women

Two sisters described the terror and shock when a masked robber hid in the back seat of their car and then threatened to kill them.

One of the victims told Channel 9 she is frightened knowing the man responsible is still out there.

The women said they were warming up their car on a cold Thursday morning around 5 a.m. at the Elizabeth Estates Apartments on Cherokee Street when a man wearing a mask sneaked into the back seat while they were inside getting dressed for work.

One of the victims, a 58-year-old Kings Mountain woman who didn't want to be identified, is afraid for her life.  She said she thought she was going to die from a crime that seems like a nightmare.

The woman and her 65-year-old sister said minutes after they closed the doors to head to work the man jumped up and demanded money.

"'Give me your wallet or I'm going to kill you,'" she said the robber said.  "So I gave him my wallet, that's all I could do."

Both sisters jumped out of the car and ran. One of the women ran to a neighbor's house and banged on the door for help, but no one answered.

The next thing she saw was the masked man standing behind her.

She gave up her wallet too and the robber ran off into the woods.

The sisters are thankful they were injured.

"Nobody was hurt and we're safe," one of the victims said.

Kings Mountain police don't have a good description of the robber.

Police are warning people not to leave their cars unlocked and running.
