Police: Man recently released from prison exposes self at library

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A woman told police a man exposed himself to her at the South Rowan branch of the Rowan County Public Library on Wednesday.

The woman told police she was checking out her books at the library counter when a man approached her and exposed his private parts while looking directly at her.

The woman complained and he quickly covered himself, police said.

Police arrested Jeffery Wayne Massey, 41, of Salisbury. Police said Massey was recently released from prison after serving a 19-year sentence for second-degree murder.

Massey was charged with indecent exposure. While checking his record, the magistrate also determined there was an outstanding warrant on Massey for being a habitual felon.

He was given a $25,000 secured bond and placed in Rowan County Detention Center.
