Police searching for man who robbed 2 Mooresville businesses

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Police told Channel 9 that they are looking for the man who they said robbed two businesses in Mooresville.

The robber went into McAlister's Deli on River Highway around 4:30 a.m. Saturday and according to police, used a gun to force a delivery driver inside and tied him up.

"Very scary. We just ate in there and had no idea," customer Tina Harris said. "The fact that something like this happens in Mooresville is very strange."

Officers said the suspect fled the business with the safe. They found it abandoned nearby.

The second robbery happened at a Quick Trip, also on River Highway.

Police said the man stole an employee's car there. The stolen car is a gray 2012 Chevy Malibu with North Carolina license plate BKP 4826.

"Makes you want to not go alone after dark," Harris said.

Nobody was hurt in either robbery.
