Police: Man robs business owned by Hickory mayor

HICKORY, N.C. — Eyewitness News learned a SWAT team surrounded a mobile home in northwest Hickory on Monday night and police are questioning a person of interest after a business owned by the town's mayor was robbed.

Mayor Rudy Wright was not inside his sign business when the stickup happened.

Officers said a man burst in, threatened wright's wife and stole cash.

Monday, investigators said they spotted the getaway car at a mobile home.

They surrounded the residence until a man came out.

He is being interviewed by authorities.
