Police: Man who crashed moped in August dies

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man involved in a moped accident last August has died, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

James Potts, 63, crashed his moped on Beatties Ford Road around 8:30 p.m. Aug. 4.

Police said Potts hit a curb which caused him to be thrown from the moped.

Potts was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police told Channel 9 that Potts passed away Tuesday due to those injuries.

The crash is under investigation and any witnesses are being asked to call Detective Kevin Allred at 704-432-2169.
