Man charged in deadly Brookshire crash to appear in court

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews responded to the scene of a fatal wreck Wednesday evening on Brookshire Boulevard in northwest Charlotte.

The accident occurred near the Interstate 485 ramp inner loop.

Charlotte firefighters confirmed that one person died in the crash. Police identified her as Anne Roller.

Another person was transported with potentially life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.

Chopper 9 flew over the scene where two vehicles could be seen involved in the wreck.

Police arrested Quantovius Forte, charging him with misdemeanor death by vehicle after they said he ran a red light at the off ramp to I-485 before hitting the other car.

The accident is under investigation but police do not think Forte had been speeding or drinking.

Forte's first court appearance is Thursday.
