• Police: 4 shot, 1 killed in northeast Charlotte

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Police responded to a shooting on Reagan Drive Thursday afternoon where four people were shot.

    North Tryon Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call with injuries.  When they arrived, they found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

    Police said one person was pronounced dead on the scene and another person suffered life-threatening injuries.

    Witnesses told police that two other people were shot also.  Police said they took themselves to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    Detectives said they believe that the victims were inside a vehicle when the suspect pulled up alongside their vehicle and began to shoot at the victims.

    Hidden Valley Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown after a potential suspect was reportedly seen in the area.  The lockdown was lifted after about an hour.

    Reagan Drive is off Sugar Creek Road near Interstate 85 in northeast Charlotte.

    No arrests have been made.
