Police search for gunman after man shot at NE Charlotte apartments

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for whoever shot a man in northeast Charlotte early Wednesday morning.

Investigators said it happened around 12:30 a.m. on Barrington Drive and when Channel 9 arrived at the scene, crime tape was up around an apartment building, and police K-9s were outside searching for evidence.

Police said the victim was hit by gunfire when shots were fired at the building.

He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials told Channel 9.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from a fight, but CMPD would not confirm whether the shooter and victim knew each other.

No arrests have been made and police have not released a suspect description.
