Police search for man accused of exposing self to 2 girls

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Huntersville police are searching for a man accused of exposing himself to two girls right outside their front door.

According to police, the man was jogging through the Montieth Park neighborhood off Stumptown Road when he reached down in his gym shorts and pulled his private parts out in front of the girls Saturday afternoon.

The girls were playing outside in a small park just a few feet away from their house. They ran inside to tell their grandmother what had happened before she called police.

"Even after a pretty traumatic experience, they were able to give us pretty solid information, which led to us getting a good lead into who might be responsible," said Deputy Chief Michael Kee, of the Huntersville Police Department.

Detectives don't know if the man lives in the neighborhood or where he may be coming from. They also don't know if he's done this before.

"We are looking into this kind of activity occurring in the past and linking it to this, but we feel like this is an isolated incident," Kee said.

The children's grandmother told Channel 9 she wants other parents to beware of this man and keep a close eye on their children.

"Be careful with that false sense of security, that everything is fine just because this is a nice community," said T.J. Fisher. "Just keep your guard because this can happen in the best of communities."
