WADESBORO, N.C. - Wadesboro police are asking the public's help to find a man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl while she was bound and gagged.
Police have issued warrants for David Hudson on multiple sex crimes and said he could be staying with family in Anson County or in the eastern part of North Carolina.
Authorities said in January, Hudson was staying at the Valley Motel with his girlfriend and her 11-year-old daughter when the alleged sex acts occurred.
The victim's aunt told Channel 9 that Hudson taped the girl's hands behind her back and gagged her before assaulting her. Police said the girl's mother was in the room at the time and had a role in the sexual assault; she is also facing criminal charges.
Family told Eyewitness News they don't believe the girl's mother had a chance to intervene, and claim Hudson physically abused her.
"I think she was kind of forced to do this. I really think that she's so scared," the victim's aunt said.
Investigators believe the sexual abuse happened more than once.
Detectives said in February the girl's mother suffered a stroke, and the girl went to live with her aunt, which is when the alleged abuse came to light.
Police said Hudson hasn't been seen in Wadesboro since.
"He violated my niece. I just couldn't believe it, I'm like, 'Why would this man touch you?'" the victim's aunt said.
Authorities said Hudson had a criminal history but had not been arrested on any sex-related charges before.
Anyone with information on Hudson's whereabouts should call local police at 704-694-2167.
