Police search for man after teen shot, killed in Albemarle

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Albemarle police arrested one suspect, but another one is on the run in connection to the shooting death of  Darold Turner Jr., 19.

Police say Mykey Eagle, 23, and Deran McLendon, 25, are both responsible for their friend's death.

Turner was found dead beside a house on Beale Street Saturday evening.

"Officers responded, once there they did see a body in the back -- actually the side of the yard," said Albemarle Police Capt. David Dullin.

Police said Turner had been shot at least once.

After interviewing neighbors, they tracked down McLendon and charged him with two counts of felonious accessory after the fact.

Authorities are still searching for Eagle, who they believe pulled the trigger.

Channel 9 returned to Beale Street Monday and showed residents Eagle's picture.

None of them recognized him, but many said they were afraid and want him off the streets.

If you know anything about Eagle's whereabouts, call Albemarle police immediately.
