Police search for suspects in armed robbery at West Charlotte dealership

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are searching for two men accused in a robbery at Mike's Auto Sales on Wilkinson Boulevard around lunchtime on Tuesday.

The owner didn't want us to use his name.

He wasn't there when the two men stormed in, but said that two employees, who are also his best friends, were.

"The way that I understand it is they came right in drawled their guns and demanded money." The owner said the suspects bound the employees hands and feet together threatened to kill them.

It's a story that's similar to a robbery just down the street at the Auto Fare car dealership on the morning of Sept. 8.

The owner Zack told Eyewitness News, "The door was locked. They shot they glass door and walked in one guy with a rifle one guy with a pistol and they robbed us and they threatened all the time they would kill us if we don't open the safe."

Immediately after the brazen attack Zack updated his security system and put iron bars the doors. The owner of Mike's Auto Sales said he will be making some changes too.

"We're going to be more careful, different kind of locks on the front, buzzer locks," said the owner of Mike's Auto Sales.

Zack said other car dealers should take heed. "For all used car dealers, you have to be careful because it seems those guys, they know what they are doing."

Eyewitness News asked Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police if the two robberies are connected. Officers said both cases are actively under investigation and they cannot comment on that at this time.

Police did make one arrest in the September Auto Fare robbery. Terrance Kenyatta Carter was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.
