A Shelby man has been charged with 13 counts of animal cruelty after police investigated the deaths of several animals.
Daniel Paul Queen, 57, of Washburn Switch Road, was arrested this week after Cleveland County Animal Control said they found several dogs dead in a creek.
Police did not say how many dogs were found in the creek.
Two dogs that were seized from Queen are being held by the Cleveland County Animal Shelter as evidence in the case.
Queen was previously convicted of attempting to escape prison in 1976.
