KANNAPOLIS, N.C. —

Investigators said a man who runs a local sandwich shop was busted with child porn and now they’re investigating even more charges against him involving children.

Detectives said they spent six months investigating 37-year-old Jonathan Wright and found pictures of child pornography on his computer.

But it doesn't stop there.

This month detectives got new information that led to accusations of Wright of sexually abusing children.

They investigated the general manager at the Firehouse Subs in Kannapolis and the Cabarrus County sheriff said there appears to already be enough evidence to make charges for sex offenses against two children.

Both occurred years ago.

“It's absolutely horrible,” Dorothy Lane said.

Eyewitness News talked to customers Thursday who were shocked and disgusted by the allegations.

None were more disgusted than the mother of a 16-year-old girl who works at the sub shop. She showed up after hearing about Wright on Channel 9.

“I just had a conversation with the man on Sunday,” Christy Abernethy said. “I had to come check on my child.”

Many can't believe he worked around families, including small children, every day.

“It makes you scared for the entire population of young children,” Abernathy said.

Eyewitness News went into the sub shop to see if Wright had been officially fired, but no one would talk about the case.

Wright is facing felony sexual exploitation of a minor, but more charges are expected.

He’s expected in court on March 13.

Wright was booked into the Cabarrus County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond. Anyone with further information about Jonathan Wright is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 704-920-3057.
