Police: Thieves steal $20K worth of equipment from Monroe landscaping co.

MONROE, N.C. — Monroe Police are asking for the public's help to find a group of suspects tied to multiple break-ins at local landscape and tractor supply businesses.

"The equipment is high end equipment, very expensive equipment," said Sgt. Mike Smith.

Police said the thieves struck Tuesday at Fussells Turf Management when they broke in through a back door, took the company van, hitched it to a company trailer, and loaded it up with lawnmowers before taking off with more than $20,000 worth of equipment.

In late August, investigators said the suspects attempted a similar burglary at JS Black John Deere on Highway 601, but were scared off when they tripped an alarm.

Detectives believe there are similar cases in other jurisdictions that could also be tied to the suspects.

Anyone with information should call Monroe police.
