Police: Woman robbed inside library, suspect leads officers on chase

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A robbery suspect led officers on a chase Monday afternoon in Lincoln County, police said.

Police said a woman was heading to the restroom at the Charles R. Jonas Library off of West Main Street in Lincolnton when a man grabbed her by the throat and demanded money.

The victim screamed, and the suspect, Jontavious Littlejohn, ran from the library, investigators said.

Security camera video from inside the library helped officers identify Littlejohn as the suspect.

Police said they saw Littlejohn driving on East Main Street and tried to stop him, but he sped away.

Littlejohn took officers down the southbound side of Highway 321, turned around on the grassy median and started to go north, but he saw Gaston County police waiting for him so he surrendered with his hands up, according to officers.

Chopper 9 flew over the area where the pursuit ended, which was between the Ratchford Road overpass and the Cloninger Road overpass.

Authorities believe Littlejohn is also wanted on probation violation charges from another county.
