CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were investigating a homicide after a man died after being shot Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a call for assault with a deadly weapon at Carolinas Medical Center-University around 1:48 p.m. At the hospital they spoke with a woman who said her boyfriend drove himself to her home after being shot.
She then drove him to the hospital, according to investigators.
Emergency staff later pronounced the man, Rayquan Levon Holmes, dead.
Detectives were speaking with the woman to determine where the shooting occurred.
