CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police had to close a portion of Brookshire Boulevard early Sunday morning after a driver crashed into a pole.
The wreck happened around 3:20 a.m., just past Oakdale Road, near the DMV office.
Officers said the driver and passenger were fortunate to suffer only minor injuries.

Duke Energy was called to the scene to repair the pole, and told Channel 9 that there were no outages associated with the crash.
Investigators have not said what caused the crash or if the driver will face any charges.
The road was closed in both directions for hours before being reopened around 9 a.m.
