Pres. Obama arrives in Charlotte Wednesday afternoon

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — President Barack Obama arrived in Charlotte around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday for the Democratic National Convention.

Obama greeted people after he landed. His motorcade departed from the airport just before 3:15 p.m. Interstate 485 outer loop and Johnston Road in the Ballantyne area were closed for Obama's motorcade.

The arrival and departure of Air Force One was not open to the public.

Obama will give his acceptance speech at Time Warner Cable Arena on Thursday night.

First lady Michelle Obama arrived Monday, one day ahead of her speech at Time Warner Cable.

Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, arrived in Charlotte on Tuesday and attended the opening night of the DNC at the arena.

The vice president will also speak on Thursday night.
