Production of 75-watt bulbs to be phased out

WASHINGTON — Homeowners looking to replace some 75-watt light bulbs around the house are running out of time.

A federal law started Tuesday that stops 75-watt incandescent bulbs from being made or imported.

The bulbs are being phased out for more energy efficient bulbs.

They will still be sold at stores as retailers can sell the rest of their existing stock.

Forty-watt and 60-watt incandescent bulbs will be phased out next year.
