• Queen Charlotte statue changes places at CLT-Douglas

    Updated:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A popular statue at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport will be in a new location for the next few years.

A giant crane was used to lift the 5,000-pound bronze statue of Queen Charlotte from its pedestal.

The statue will be in her temporary home between the two daily parking decks until expansion of the hourly parking deck is complete.

The statue has been a fixture at the airport since 1990.
