Ranking finds Charlotte’s best places for families

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Where is the top spot in the Charlotte metro for raising a family? It’s where you’d also find the best overall place to live here, according to Niche.

That Pittsburgh-based ranking and review website put Ballantyne East atop its list of the best local places to raise a family. In addition to receiving an A+ in the “good for families” category, the Charlotte neighborhood also scored top marks for public schools and health and fitness. Its worst grade, a C+, came in cost of living.

Ballantyne East came in at No. 3 on the North Carolina list of best places for families, trailing Morrisville and Cary — both located in the Triangle area.

Ballantyne East is followed by Providence Crossing, Ballantyne West, Providence Plantation and Davidson in the local ranking by Niche. Seventy-one of North Carolina’s 100 best places for families were found in the Charlotte area.

A total of 36 places in the Charlotte metro received Niche’s highest grade of an A+ for raising a family. The ranking includes Charlotte neighborhoods as well as cities, towns and suburbs across the region.
