CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Some parking rates are going up at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The airport raised curbside valet parking rates to $28 a day on Monday, up from $19 a day. Business valet rates are now $14, up from $10, and the daily garage now costs $10 a day, up from $7.
More parking increases are coming. When the airport finishes a new parking deck in November, the maximum rate for the hourly garage will be $20 instead of $17. In February 2015, the airport is increasing long-term lots from $5 a day to $7 a day.
Airport officials say the higher rates are needed to pay more employees for valet operations and to help pay for construction costs and new shuttle buses.
