MATTHEWS, N.C. — A water main break will cause major traffic problems on S. Trade Street in Matthews for seven to 10 days, Charlotte Water officials said.
The break happened near Whitefriars Lane near the Hampton Green Subdivision.
Crews have installed a temporary above-ground water main to keep the subdivision in service.
The repairs will begin Tuesday and last seven to 10 days.
Crews will be working around the clock to complete the repairs before the school year begins.
Officials said they don’t expect any customers to lose water service as a result of the repairs.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane at times on S. Trade Street during the repairs.
