Review of Clinton emails won't lead to charges FBI director says

Ten days after a giant wrench was thrown in Hillary Clinton's Democratic presidential campaign, there's a big sense of relief from her team.

"We're glad that this matter is resolved," an aide for Clinton told reporters Sunday after the FBI cleared her once again of any criminal wrongdoing related to her email server.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's advisers are now back to attacking the FBI director.

"I immediately thought he's mishandled the investigation from the beginning and this proves it yet again," Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said.

Dr. Michael Bitzer, a political science professor, told us in the next 48 hours, Trump's camp will likely double down on the message that the election is rigged.

"You will hear this nonstop throughout Tuesday, which is really unfortunate," he said.

He said this latest development won't change the minds of most Republicans and Trump supporters.  But, it will give Democrats more confidence in their candidate and be especially impactful on independent voters.

"I think for an independent leaning Democrat  this may give them solace to say 'OK I can cast a vote for Hillary Clinton with a clear conscience' and also potentially for some urban and suburban moderate Republicans who were still questioning 'Can I vote for Donald Trump?'" Bitzer said.

One thing is for sure, Bitzer says while the FBI has finished its review, it's not over for Director James Comey.

"I think that he is going to be on the hot seat for both sides for different reasons but he will certainly have to answer for this kind of an approach this close to an election," Bitzer said.
