ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill police officers found a stolen custom-made bicycle Wednesday and returned it to a Rock Hill boy with autism.
Austin Griffin’s red Huffy four-wheel children’s bicycle was located, broken, at a gas station on Charlotte Avenue South.
The bicycle was made and paid for by the Fire and Iron Club, a motorcycle club of firefighters and Marines.
Fire and Iron Club members heard the bike was stolen and wrecked and said they are going to fix it up for free.
The bicycle was stolen Tuesday.
Jennifer Tomchek, Austin’s mother, called officers, who said they would try to find the bicycle, but that she shouldn’t get her hopes up.
“My understanding is the entire shift was out looking for that bicycle and about two hours later, he was at the front door returning that bicycle,” Tomcheck said. “It was found up the road at a gas station.”
