ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill police are investigating after they said a man died in a double shooting Sunday evening.
Police told Channel 9 that Antravious White, 21, died on the scene at Scoggins Street and that another person was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
That victim was listed in fair condition Monday morning and police were trying to talk to him to get more information.
The shooting happened at a home on that street around 6 p.m.
Neighbors told Channel 9 that at first, they didn't know that what they were hearing were gunshots.
"I hear some, 'Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!'" Florence Pearl said. "I thought, 'My goodness, are they shooting firecrackers on Thanksgiving?'"
Pearl has lived on Scoggins Street since the 1960s and said she's not used to this type of violent crime in the area.
Sophia Glover also lives near the crime scene and was shocked by what happened.
"Now I think this neighborhood isn't safe," Glover said. "I have babies in the house, but I'm glad I wasn't around because I know (the gunshots) would have scared my kids."
Police did not say if anyone was in custody or what may have led to the shootings but did say it was not a random crime.
