SALISBURY, N.C. — A Rowan County man faces several drug charges after police said he received 10.5 pounds of marijuana in the mail.
Officials with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said they worked with the U.S. Postal Service to execute a search warrant Thursday at the home of 41-year-old Ronnie Lee Eagle in Salisbury.
Police said Eagle had just received a package of high-grade marijuana, which was shipped to him from California and valued at around $35,000.
Officials said it was not the first time that marijuana had been sent to Eagle.
Eagle was arrested and charged with trafficking more than 10 pounds, but less than 50 pounds of marijuana, conspiracy to traffic in more than 10 pounds, but less than 50 pounds of marijuana, and felony maintaining a dwelling to keep and sell controlled substances.
Eagle has a previous arrest on suspicion of possession of a weapon of mass destruction and two convictions for carrying a concealed weapon.
His bond has been set at $40,000.
