Rowan-Salisbury Schools official on paid leave, under investigation

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A Rowan County school official is under investigation and on paid leave.

Rowan-Salisbury Schools told Channel 9 they placed Crystal Vail, the director of the district's exceptional children program, on leave on Tuesday but officials wouldn't say why.

Vail has worked for the district since 2008.

School board members said a meeting Thursday to discuss the investigation was canceled.

School officials released the following statement: "Dr. Crystal Vail, EC Director, has been placed on administrative leave with pay effective February 10, 2015 pending an internal investigation. Dr. Vail has been employed with Rowan-Salibury Schools since April 28, 2008."
