SALISBURY, N.C. — Salisbury community leaders raised concerns during a news conference Thursday morning about the autopsy report of a man who was shot and killed in November by a police officer.

Officers were executing a controversial “no knock” warrant on a home on East Lafayette Street in November when they said someone inside shot at them. Officer Karl Boehm shot back and killed Ferguson Laurent.

The autopsy report showed that Laurent was struck 10 times in the head, torso and arm. The medical examiner said two of the shots might have been re-entry wounds.
But community leaders said that when they spoke to police after the shooting, authorities told them that Laurent was shot two or maybe three times. They said it’s a big difference and they want police to meet with them and share more information about the shooting.

“We are at the point where we want details to the questions we’ve raised today,” said Bradley Taylor, a pastor at Outreach Christian Ministries.
Police wouldn't go on camera, but in a statement said, "After further investigation on the night of the shooting, it was determined that the initials reports on the number of shots were inconclusive. The true number of shots would be provided in the SBI report and the autopsy."
The SBI has not said when it will be finished with its investigation of the shooting.
